Barcelona make surprise striker signing call
The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have early this week made a considerable call when it comes to the club’s ongoing search for reinforcements at centre-forward.
This comes as the possibility of the Blaugrana not securing further attacking signings before the window is out continues to grow.
It is of course common knowledge across the world of football that the Camp Nou hierarchy have spent the entire summer to date on the hunt for fresh blood up top.
With the departure of Robert Lewandowski having recently been followed by that of Ferran Torres, Hansi Flick’s squad has been left alarmingly thin on natural senior options through the middle.
Deco and co, in turn, have long been focusing their full efforts on landing Julián Alvarez from La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid. But as alluded to above, should an unlikely deal for the Argentine not be found over the days ahead, Barca are prepared to head into the new season with the current attacking options at their disposal.
As per a report from transfer journalist Nil Sola:
‘If Barça don’t sign Julián Alvarez, they won’t bring in any center forward. The club has considered various options, but as of today, they believe that nothing that can be signed improves the squad.’
