Barcelona have been offered chance to sign defender

La Liga giants Barcelona were recently contacted to gauge the club’s interest in the signing of RB Leipzig star Castello Lukeba. That’s according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, who has on Tuesday provided an insight into the situation.

The name of stopper Lukeba has of course emerged as a prominent one in the transfer chatter surrounding Barcelona over the last couple of days.

Amid an ongoing scouring of the market for potential defensive reinforcements, the Camp Nou brass are reported to have earmarked the 23-year-old as a favourable profile.

Lukeba is appreciated for his ability to take to the pitch in either a central role, or at left-back.

If the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, though, then the links between the two parties in fact appear to have been kickstarted by those in charge of the defender’s future, rather than Barcelona themselves.

As per a report from market insider Fabrizio Romano:

‘Nothing advanced or concrete so far for Castello Lukeba to Barcelona despite recent reports. The centre-back has been offered to Barça but no talks took place.’
