Real Madrid beat Barcelona & Atlético to midfield signing

La Liga giants Real Madrid have late this week beaten out stiff competition to secure a deal for an up-and-coming member of the midfield ranks at Racing Santander.

This comes amid the understanding that youngster Sergio Martínez has given his word to Los Blancos regarding an imminent summer transfer.

Sergio Martínez, a 19-year-old engine room talent, has seen his name take its place front and centre in the media chatter across Spain over the course of the last week.

After marking his debut appearance in top-flight football with a stunning goal against Villarreal, speculation linking the Racing academy graduate with a whole host of leading La Liga clubs spread like wildfire.

And as alluded to above, if the latest word doing the rounds this weekend is anything to go by, then one such suitor now appear to have beaten out the competition to a deal…

As per a report from Diario AS:

‘In recent days, both Racing and the player have received countless calls from various clubs trying to sway the decision in their favour. Barcelona, Villarreal, and Atlético de Madrid have all seen their efforts prove fruitless, as the player has decided to wear the Real Madrid jersey.’

Martínez, initially, is expected to link up with Real Madrid Castilla, with a view to working his way into the first-team picture at Valdebebas as the season progresses.
