Monaco pushing to sign Freiburg left-back Jordy Makengo
AS Monaco are pushing to sign Freiburg left-back Jordy Makengo (25), according to a report from L’Equipe. The French full-back has agreed in principle to join Filipe Luis’ Monégasques. The latter get their Ligue 1 season underway this Sunday with an away game against Didier Digard’s Le Havre. Makengo remains contracted with Freiburg until 2028.
AS Monaco are on the market for a left-back after initially parting ways with Caio Henrique and Kassoum Ouattara in the summer. The pair respectively joined AFC Ajax and Besiktas. Makengo would be competing for a spot in the starting line-up with Brazilian full-back Nazinho, should Monaco reach an agreement with Freiburg.
However, L’Equipe understands that the Ligue 1 side is short of funds, which is slowing down their transfer activity.
