La Liga giants Barcelona have on Sunday evening been dealt a blow on the personnel front. This comes owing to developments in the club’s meeting with Elche.

Hansi Flick’s troops are currently locked in action, in their opening fixture of the new La Liga campaign. Kicking the defence of their title into gear, the Blaugrana have made the trip to Estadio Manuel Martínez to take on Elche.

As things stand, Barca find themselves in a dominant position, leading by two goals to nil courtesy of Raphinha and Karim Adeyemi.

As alluded to above, though, an otherwise positive night’s work to date for the visitors has been soured considerably by an injury setback.

Afforded a starting berth in Alicante, Gavi pulled up late in the first-half with what appeared to be a knee problem. After being tended to by the Barcelona medical team, the midfielder, from here, limped off to be replaced by Pedri.

An update on Gavi’s wellbeing is expected post-match.
