Aston Villa, Tottenham make approaches for Nicolas Jackson move

Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing 25-year-old Senegalese international Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea this summer.

According to a report by Football Insider, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur have “made approaches” for Nicolas Jackson. The two Premier League clubs are keen on reinforcing their offensive units by signing a striker in the final days of the ongoing transfer window, and they have their sights set on the 25-year-old out-of-favour Chelsea centre-forward.

Per Football Insider, talks for a summer move are “expected to ramp up” in the coming days, with Atletico Madrid and Napoli also vying for his signature. Meanwhile, a report by the Matt Law for Daily Telegraph has revealed that Chelsea “are braced for an approach” for Jackson from Aston Villa, and they are demanding £65 million to part ways with him.

Nicolas Jackson and his situation

Nicolas Jackson has gone from a first-choice starter to a peripheral figure during his stint with Chelsea, having arrived from Villarreal in a deal worth £32 million in July 2023. While the 25-year-old was impressive in his first two seasons with the West London club, his situation flipped after they signed Joao Pedro and Liam Delap last summer. He spent the 2025/26 season with Bayern Munich on a season-long loan deal.

The Senegalese international was a backup option for Die Roten, accumulating 1,320 minutes of game time while chipping in with a solid tally of 11 goals and four assists. However, Jackson has not completed a permanent move to Bayern Munich, and he has no future at Chelsea, with the West London club eager to part ways with him.

What next?

Nicolas Jackson has been on Aston Villa’s wishlist for several months. The continued interest akes sense, as the Villans are scouring the market for a striker due to uncertainties surrounding Ollie Watkins’s long-term future. The English international is a target for Al-Hilal, and recent reports have claimed that he wants to move to the Saudi Pro League.

As for Tottenham, the North London club chose not to pursue a deal for Randal Kolo Muani after the end of his loan stint. So, with Dominic Solanke struggling with persistent fitness issues since arriving from Bournemouth and Richarlison reportedly facing an uncertain future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Lilywhites need an alternative, with Jackson an option worth considering.

Meanwhile, the report by Matt Law on the Daily Telegraph corroborates recent suggestions that Chelsea will demand around £65 million to part ways with Jackson, a value that reflects his contract duration, as it will expire after seven years. However, Aston Villa and Tottenham can leverage his squad status to drive down the valuation, though the two clubs’ stance on paying £65 million to sign the Senegalese international remains unknown.
