Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick remains unconvinced by the performances being produced by a high-profile member of his defensive ranks. That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Alejandro Balde as the player in question.

Stopper Balde has seen his name reemerge as a prominent one in the media headlines surrounding Barcelona over the last 24 hours. Amid an ongoing search for reinforcements at left-back, Premier League heavyweights Manchester United are understood to have earmarked the Spanish international as a potential addition.

The Red Devils have gone as far as to make contact with super agent Jorge Mendes, to gather information on the financial commitment likely to be involved in any deal.

Balde, for his part, is understood to remain committed to the cause in Catalunya’s capital, eager to stay put for the season ahead.

His manager, though, is less convinced… That’s according to Blaugrana insider Carlos Monfort of Diario Sport, who reports:

‘The club has been contemplating that Balde could be one of the departures of the summer for some time, as Hansi Flick continues to have doubts about the performance of the academy player, hence the insistence on the definitive signing of Cancelo.’
