Official: Real Betis sign Troy Parrott
La Liga outfit Real Betis have on Thursday announced a fresh addition to the club’s attacking ranks, in the form of Troy Parrott.
Republic of Ireland standout Parrott is fresh off a stellar campaign in the Netherlands with AZ Alkmaar, culminating in 43 direct goal contributions across all competitions.
The 24-year-old also turned heads throughout Europe with his exploits on the international stage earlier this year, leading Ireland to a place in the World Cup qualification playoffs courtesy of a match-winning hat-trick against Hungary.
On the lookout for reinforcements up top ahead of an upcoming season in the Champions League, the aforementioned Real Betis, in turn, had long set their sights on Parrott’s signature.
And as alluded to above, after weeks of negotiations with their counterparts in the boardroom in Alkmaar, the Verdiblancos brass have on Thursday finally landed their man.
As per a statement across Betis’ website and social media platforms:
‘Real Betis Balompié and AZ Alkmaar have reached an agreement for the transfer of Troy Parrott. The Irish international striker becomes the newest signing this summer and has signed a contract until 2031.’
