New Barcelona signing Rodri has provided the club’s supporters with a surprising and altogether encouraging update on his current fitness levels.

The name of midfielder Rodri has of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital across the evening to date. Following weeks of rampant speculation, the 30-year-old’s move to Barcelona from Manchester City was at last made official.

Rodri has since gone on to take his place in front of the media, taking questions on a whole host of topics regarding his transfer and more.

One such query surrounded his readiness to take to the pitch at present. Man City recently announced that the Ballon d’Or winner had been forced under the knife, to deal with a back problem.

Despite the issue having been described as minor, Rodri was nevertheless expected to miss the coming weeks whilst recovering. But as alluded to above, if his latest comments are anything to go by, then this looks unlikely to be the case.

Speaking on Tuesday evening, Barca’s new signing assured:

“I’m absolutely fit and ready to play! The surgery was nothing serious. Hopefully I can train tomorrow, put myself under Hansi’s orders as soon as possible – whenever he thinks I’m ready to.”
