Former Antwerp winger joins FC Groningen on loan from Parma
Jacob Ondrejka has joined FC Groningen on loan from Parma. The former Antwerp midfielder is hoping to join the squad in time to be included in their second Eredivisie game of the season against newly promoted ADO Den Haag this Sunday. Ondrejka has played in the low countries before, albeit across the border in Belgium for Antwerp.
The 23-year-old Ondrejka began his career in his native Sweden with Landskorna BoIS before joining Elfsborg in 2020. He played 110 games for the side, scoring 20 goals. In the summer of 2023 he joined Antwerp in Belgium. Ondrejka played 55 games in a season and a half with the Great Old, scoring 12 goals and providing seven assists. Midway through his second season, his seven goals and five assists in 26 games earned him a move to Serie A to join Parma.
In Italy, Ondrejka played 12 games for Parma to end the season. He had a decent return, scoring five goals. However, last season Ondrejka only played 17 games for Parma, failing to score or find an assist. He still has a contract with Parma until 2029, but a move to Groningen could help him rediscover the form he had previously shown with Antwerp.
