Lens hijack Lazio’s pursuit of Benfica striker Franjo Ivanovic
RC Lens have hijacked SS Lazio’s pursuit of Benfica striker Franjo Ivanovic (22), according to Foot Mercato. The Croatian international was expected to join the Biancocelesti after the Serie A side has struck an agreement with Benfica over a loan with option to buy. But Lens have swooped in and presented their arguments to Ivanovic, and the latter has agreed to join the Champions League-playing Ligue 1 side.
Foot Mercato adds that Dino Toppmöller’s Lens side now needs to find an agreement over Ivanovic’s exit terms. Lens were in the market for attacking reinforcements given they have parted ways with Wesley Saïd. Furthermore, Odsonne Edouard sustained an injury during today’s home loss to Premier League Sunderland.
