Westerlo bring in Club Brugge youngster to bolster midfield options

Westerlo have announced the signing of Club Brugge midfielder Cisse Sandra. The 22-year-old, who can play centrally or out wide, has spent the last few seasons on loan in the Eredivisie. With a contract set to expire next summer, Club Brugge have decided to allow Sandra to leave to join Westerlo. Playing time was likely to be limited for Sandra with Club Brugge this season, so Westerlo offers him a chance to realise his potential and enjoy more first team opportunities.

Sandra was highly rated coming through the Club Brugge academy system. He made his senior debut as a teenager for the first team during the 2021/2022 season. That year he played 12 times, scoring once. After 13 appearances and one goal the following season, he was sent out on loan to Excelsior in the Eredivisie. Sandra suffered relegation with the Rotterdam side, playing 31 times and scoring once, with two assists. For the 2024/2025 season he returned to Dutch football on loan, this time joining Willem II. Once again, Sandra suffered relegation from the top flight of Dutch football. He played 30 games for Willem II, with four goals and two assists.

Sandra remained with Club Brugge last season and played 22 games as they won their 20th league title. He scored three goals and provided one assist. He had made an appearance in the Super Cup defeat to Union St Gilloise already this season, but now departs for Westerlo. His contract with Westerlo is for four years.
