Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Giovanni Reyna attracts Strasbourg interest

Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Giovanni Reyna (23) is reportedly in talks regarding a possible transfer to RC Strasbourg Alsace, according to The Athletic.

Having joined Gladbach from Borussia Dortmund last summer for a fee of €4m, the attacking midfielder made 20 appearances (five as a starter) and scored one goal during the 2025-26 season. It was yet another campaign marred by recurring fitness issues, which notably prevented him from reaching the 500-minute mark in the Bundesliga.

Nevertheless, called up by Mauricio Pochettino for the World Cup, Reyna – son of the legendary Claudio – featured in all five of the USMNT’s matches during the tournament, even finding the net in their resounding 4-1 victory over Paraguay.

Under contract with Die Fohlen until 2028, the Sunderland-born player could therefore soon leave Germany for France and join the BlueCO group, the consortium led by American businessman Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, which also owns Chelsea FC.
