Official | AS Monaco sign Matthis Abline from FC Nantes in €30m deal
AS Monaco have signed former France U21 international striker Matthis Abline (23) from Ligue 2 side FC Nantes in a reported €30m deal, both clubs have announced. Nantes and Monaco reportedly reached an agreement over a €25m transfer fee and a further €5m worth of performance-related add-ons. Abline is Les Canaris‘ record sale. With Nantes going down in Ligue 2, the former Rennes Academy graduate’s departure was anticipated given his potential and his marketability.
AS Monaco submitted several bids to their Nantes counterparts in the past months for Abline, and they eventually got their man. Filipe Luis’s Monaco were expected to step up their search for a versatile striker with Folarin Balogun expected to depart on the back of a convincing 2026 World Cup with the USMNT.
PSG target Maghnes Akliouche and Aleksandr Golovin are also set to leave the Principality side. The back-to-back Champions League winners are reportedly close to reach an agreement over the transfer of the France international.
