Brentford in advanced talks to sign Lens’ Mamadou Sangaré in €48m deal

Premier League side Brentford FC are in advanced talks with RC Lens to wrap up the €48m signing of defensive midfielder Mamadou Sangaré (24), according to a report this Tuesday from L’Equipe. The Malian international has been one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1 last season, and was a vital cog in Lens’ push for Champions League football and their maiden Coupe de France win.

For weeks, Lens discreetly held talks with Brentford, who are set to part ways with Chelsea-bound England international midfielder Jordan Henderson, over Sangaré’s transfer to the Bees. L’Equipe reports that an agreement is close between. However, Crystal Palace – who are coached by former Lens manager Pierre Sage – could still outbid their London-based Premier League rivals to sign Sangaré.
