Wilfried Nancy in pole position to take Strasbourg job
Wilfried Nancy could be set for a return to club management. As per a report from Onze Mondial, the former Celtic manager is the frontrunner to succeed Gary O’Neil at RC Strasbourg Alsace.
Strasbourg are looking to appoint O’Neil’s successor before their return to pre-season on 8th July. It leaves Le Racing pushed for time. It comes after O’Neil’s surprise exit. The Englishman only arrived in January, replacing Liam Rosenior who left to join Chelsea. However, he left last month to join newly-promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town.
Nancy is now the frontrunner to replace the former AFC Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers manager at the Meinau. The Frenchman has not been in management since his departure from Celtic back in January. It was a difficult spell for Nancy, who, after his successful stint at Columbus Crew, lasted just eight games at the Scottish giants.
He recently announced a desire to manage in Ligue 1. “Now, I want to come to Ligue 1, if there is an opportunity. I am not the one who decides, but I am ready,” he told RMC Sport back in May. He could now be set for that return at Strasbourg.
