Pierre Sage’s Crystal Palace look to recruit Lens defender

Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage could look to recruit from his former club, RC Lens, as per a report from L’Équipe.

Sage joined Crystal Palace after leading Lens to a second-place finish in Ligue 1 and a triumph in the Coupe de France. A report from Sky Sports has suggested that the Premier League side are interested in Lens midfielder Mamadou Sangaré, who is also a target for Manchester United.

However, Crystal Palace could also look to recruit a Lens defender. L’Équipe understands that the London-based club are in for Toulouse FC defender Charlie Cresswell, who has been the subject of a concrete approach from Stade Rennais.

Whilst the Premier League side are in the race to sign the former England youth international, L’Équipe understands that they are also looking at Lens’ defenders, without specifying which ones are targeted. Ismaelo Ganiou and Samson Baidoo notably had strong seasons under Sage, now at Selhurst Park.
