Report – Bayern Munich & Juventus in Talks for Star Defender

German giants Bayern Munich have reportedly made a formal inquiry about Juventus center-back Gleison Bremer. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, talks between the sides are ongoing as the Bavarians aim to lure the Brazilian to the Bundesliga.

Widely regarded as one of the best defenders in Serie A, Gleison Bremer could leave Juventus after four years for pastures new. Bayern Munich have earmarked the 29-year-old as their top defensive target amid growing speculation linking Kim Min-jae with a return to Italy’s top flight.

Bremer has three more years left on his contract in Turin. Therefore, Juventus are in a perfect bargaining position. The record-time Italian champions are seeking a premium price for the former Torino star, who has an eye-watering €58 million release clause in his current deal.

However, Vincent Kompany’s men are reluctant to spend more than €40 million.

Our take on Juventus & Bremer

Despite his lengthy spell on the sidelines, Bremer remains Juventus’ most reliable center-back by a mile. As such, it’s a bit mind-boggling that they’re willing to listen to offers, especially considering how difficult it may be to replace the player of his caliber.

Juventus boss Luciano Spalletti is one of Kim’s admirers, and the South Korean star could head in the opposite direction. However, it would probably be a separate deal, though whether he’d be a suitable replacement for Bremer remains highly doubtful.

On the other hand, Juventus have also set their sights on Bologna stalwart Jhon Lucumi, who may be a better option. Furthermore, the Bianconeri could use Bologna’s interest in Fabio Miretti as a bargaining chip in talks for the Colombian, easing the financial burden of the deal.
