Report – Milan Veteran Ready to Stay Under Two Critical Conditions

Luka Modric is reportedly open to staying at Milan for another season, but his future hinges on two crucial conditions. According to Calciomercato, the 40-year-old has yet to make a final decision on his future.

Milan made a bold decision last summer when they signed Luka Modric as a free agent, following the Croatian midfielder’s departure from Real Madrid. Despite being in the autumn of his playing career, the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner joined the club as one of the best deep-lying playmakers football has ever seen.

Furthermore, Modric has defied the laws of nature, proving age is just a number in his first season at San Siro. Indeed, he has made 33 Serie A appearances for Milan this term, netting two goals and adding three assists. More importantly, he has established himself as a key cog in Massimiliano Allegri’s system.

However, Modric’s contract runs out at the end of the current campaign. Though he has an option to extend his stay for another year, the player remains undecided about his future.

Luka Modric to Stay at Milan if Two Conditions Are Met

Milan head into the Serie A season finale sitting third in the table, two points clear of fifth-placed Como. Therefore, a home win over bottom-half Cagliari would see them return to the Champions League after a season-long absence. And it would be the first condition met.

In addition, Modric is allegedly eager to work with Allegri after the pair developed a strong bond over the course of the campaign. Moreover, he has emerged as a potential future member of Allegri’s backroom staff once he decides to call time on his illustrious career.

Meanwhile, Allegri’s second stint at Milan could come to a close this summer. Therefore, it’s difficult to say whether Modric will be wearing the Rossoneri shirt next term.
