Lyon and Marseille face off over Genk’s Zakaria El Ouahdi
Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique de Marseille are reportedly vying to secure the services of KRC Genk’s Zakaria El Ouahdi (24), according to reports from Voetbalnieuws. Dutch giants PSV are also said to be among the interested clubs.
Under contract with the Belgian club until 2028, the Moroccan right-back, who was recently awarded the Ébène trophy for the best African or African-born player in the Jupiler Pro League, has a market value of around €15 million. This is sure to delight Genk, who in 2023 spent just €2.5 million to sign him from RWDM.
A key player in Nicky Hayen’s side, El Ouahdi has started every one of the 41 matches he has played in this season. Along the way, he has found the net 12 times and provided five assists. A Moroccan international with two caps, the Antwerp-born player was notably part of the Atlas Lions’ 2-1 victory over Paraguay last March.
