Afonso Moreira set for Lyon contract extension
Afonso Moreira (21) is expected to sign a contract extension with Olympique Lyonnais shortly, according to L’Équipe.
The winger, currently under contract with Les Gones until 2029, is likely to extend his deal by a further year, taking it through to 2030, despite growing interest from several European clubs.
A well-deserved accolade for Moreira, the standout revelation of the Ligue 1 season, who has established himself as one of the key players in Paulo Fonseca’s squad. Signed from Sporting CP for €2 million last summer, the young Portuguese player stepped in perfectly for Malick Fofana (21) when the latter was injured in the autumn.
Having made 35 appearances for Lyon since the start of the season, the Lamego-born player has been decisive on 19 occasions, scoring eight goals and providing 11 assists.
