Morgan Gibbs-White poised to leave Nottingham Forest this summer

Morgan Gibbs-White could leave Nottingham Forest amid rising interest in the market, with Manchester United and Manchester City among his suitors.

Nottingham Forest just about kept hold of Morgan Gibbs-White last summer, and they could struggle to replicate the feat again once the season ends. The England international is reportedly likely to leave the club, as Football Insider declares Manchester United and Manchester City among the interested parties.

Nottingham Forest flexed their muscles when danger loomed last season with regard to Morgan Gibbs-White. The club threatened legal action against Tottenham, who thought they had activated a said release clause in his contract, but eventually he ended up signing an extension over at the City Ground.

There are considerable doubts about whether Forest can replicate their feat from last summer, as Gibbs-White seems poised to leave for a bigger challenge. The midfielder has delivered for the club, as he will be a huge factor if they end up avoiding relegation, while the England international has played a massive role in helping the club reach the Europa League semi-finals.

Gibbs-White has 22 goal contributions across all competitions, including 13 strikes in the Premier League, as his displays alone have managed to attract the attention of some of the biggest clubs. Manchester United and Manchester City are keen on him as well as Elliott Anderson, with both players widely expected to consider their futures at Forest.

Manchester United are interested in a big way, as they continue to make plans to restructure their midfield setup ahead of the summer. There are a few departures expected out of the club, as Gibbs-White could suit their system, with his versatility across a few roles adding a new threat to a formidable-looking attacking setup.

Where next for Gibbs-White?

Manchester City have also reportedly held talks as per previous reports, and with Bernardo Silva leaving in the summer, Pep Guardiola may take an interest in Gibbs-White as a potential replacement. The Forest star could also suit the style of play at the Etihad, as the Manchester clubs could fight it out for the midfielder.

As for Gibbs-White, he was ready to leave last summer only for a late intervention from Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis. The club supremo will do everything in his power to keep hold of the player, especially if they were to play Champions League football next season, but without it, the chances of the club retaining their influential midfielder are very slim.
