Robert Lewandowksi congratulates Harry Kane as England captain nears his Bundesliga scoring record

With Harry Kane on pace to smash Robert Lewandowski’s single season Bundesliga scoring record, the Polish striker has reflected on what it will feel like to no longer hold his place in the record books. Lewandowksi spoke on the matter in an interview with Sky Sports.

Lewandowski scored 41 Bundesliga goals in 29 games

Lewandowski famously claimed the record during a season in which he missed four league fixtures in March and April of 2021 due to injury. Kane has remained fit throughout the current Bundesliga campaign, featuring in all 24 of Bayern Munich’s league games. Lewandowski pointed this out in his Sky interview.

Lewandowski congratulates Harry Kane preemptively

Because of him, I can now be even prouder of my record,” Lewandowski told the pay TV broadcaster. “Harry Kane always scores so many goals. He plays really well and does a great job. I achieved that feat in 29 games. If I had played 34 games, I could imagine that I would have scored even more goals.”
