Achraf Hakimi to stand trial before criminal court over rape accusation

PSG right-back Achraf Hakimi (27) will stand trial before a local criminal court for rape, as reported by France Info. The Moroccan international defender is accused to have committed a rape on the night of February 24 to 25, 2023 in the outskirts of Paris. On February 25, 2023, a young woman went to the Nogent-sur-Marne police station to file a report against the PSG full-back. She described going to his home the previous day, around 1:15 a.m., and being sexually assaulted.

Last summer, prosecutors requested that Hakimi stand trial, and the decision has been confirmed today following a three-year judicial investigation. The Moroccan has always denied any wrongdoings, only admitting consensual kisses.

The player has issued the following statement on his X account: “Today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial, even though I deny it and everything proves it’s false. This is as unfait to the innocent as it is to the genuine victims. I calmly await this trial, which will allow the truth to publicly come out.
