Real Madrid eyeing Pedro Porro as Dani Carvajal replacement

Real Madrid will reportedly look to sign 26-year-old Spanish international Pedro Porro from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window to replace Dani Carvajal.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Pedro Porro is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a right-back in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Dani Carvajal’s long-term future. So, the 26-year-old Tottenham Hotspur wide player has emerged as a target for Los Blancos.

How has Pedro Porro fared at Tottenham?

Pedro Porro has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Sporting CP. The North London club initially signed the Spaniard on loan before completing a permanent move in the subsequent summer transfer window for €45 million.

The 26-year-old has been a mainstay at the back for Tottenham Hotspur in the last three years, making nearly 150 appearances while chipping in with 11 goals and 25 assists. Meanwhile, Porro’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe.

Reports in the last 12 months have linked him with many European heavyweights, including Bayern Munich. However, Real Madrid will attempt to secure the Spanish full-back’s services in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Dani Carvajal’s long-term future.

Will Porro return to Spain soon?

Pedro Porro has been on Real Madrid’s wishlist for a long time. The continued interest makes sense, as Dani Carvajal’s long-term future is uncertain. The veteran right-back has struggled with fitness issues in recent seasons, and he has become a disgruntled member of Alvaro Arbeloa’s squad, as the head coach has constantly overlooked him in the last few games.

So, while Real Madrid signed Trent Alexander-Arnold last summer, they can do with another right-back this year if Carvajal calls time on his spell with Los Blancos. So, Porro has emerged as a viable target for the Spanish giants. However, the 26-year-old Spaniard is not the only right-back on Real Madrid’s wishlist.

The report has also mentioned AS Roma’s Wesley Franca and Bayern Munich’s Konrad Laimer as targets for Real Madrid. So, it will be interesting to see if Porro arrives at the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer transfer window if the Merengues part ways with Dani Carvajal.
