Tottenham considering summer move for Murillo

Tottenham Hotspur may look to sign 23-year-old Brazilian international Murillo from relegation-threatened Premier League club Nottingham Forest this summer.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Murillo is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Lilywhites are eager to reinforce their defensive unit by signing a centre-back in the summer transfer window. So, the 23-year-old Nottingham Forest defender has emerged as a target for the struggling Premier League giants.

The latest report has suggested that while the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League winners are relaxed on the futures of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Luka Vuskovic, they have kept their options open heading into the summer transfer window. So, the South American defender is one of four centre-backs on Tottenham’s wishlist.

How has Murillo fared at Nottingham Forest?

Murillo has established himself as one of the most solid defenders in the Premier League since joining Nottingham Forest from Corinthians in a deal worth £10 million in August 2023. The 23-year-old hit the ground running at the City Ground, and he has made exponential progress in the last two and a half years, becoming a mainstay at the back for the Tricky Trees while playing his part in their recent ascent.

The youngster has made 100 appearances for Nottingham Forest thus far while chipping in with three goals and two assists. Meanwhile, the Brazilian defender’s exploits for the Premier League club have helped him break into his national side. Additionally, his exploits have piqued the attention of several top-class clubs. Tottenham Hotspur will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the winter transfer window.

London calling?

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Murillo makes sense. The Lilywhites are scouring the market for a centre-back heading into the summer transfer window, as even though they are relaxed on the futures of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Luka Vuskovic, they have kept their options open heading into the summer transfer window.

Additionally, Radu Dragusin’s long-term future is uncertain after he pushed to leave Tottenham in the winter transfer window. Several candidates, including Aitor Paredes, have thus emerged on the North London club’s wishlist, with Murillo also a viable target.

However, the Nottingham Forest mainstay is not the only centre-back on Tottenham’s wishlist, as they are also interested in Antonio Silva, Joel Ordonez, and Charlie Cresswell. It will be interesting to see if the 23-year-old Brazilian international arrives at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer transfer window.
