Saint-Étienne fan Timothée Chalamet writes ‘Down with Lyon’ on OL shirt

Actor Timothée Chalamet is a known AS Saint-Étienne fan. Handed a shirt of Les Verts’ fierce rivals, Olympique Lyonnais, he accepted signing it, but not without passing a message.

Chalamet was videoed being asked by Konbini if he could sign their Lyon shirt. He accepted but asked whether it “bothered him” to sign it, he responded: “I’m writing down with Lyon.” The evidence of the message, along with his signature, was seen just above the club’s logo.

Chalament’s ‘perfect 2026’ would see Saint-Étienne return to Ligue 1

Chalamet has never hidden his affection for Saint-Étienne, inherited from his French father. Speaking in an interview back in 2024, he said, ““I used to chase the team [by bike]… Payet it was that generation of players. I’m a big Saint-Étienne fan they’re probably the team I support the most in the world, better than New York Knicks.”

Speaking at the start of January, he said that for “2026 to be really perfect, Saint-Étienne will have to be promoted back to Ligue 1 for next season”.

ASSE currently sit fifth in Ligue 2, albeit just four points away from the automatic promotion places. The club recently replaced manager Eirik Horneland with Philippe Montanier in order to secure that objective.
