Junior Mwanga close to Strasbourg return
Junior Mwanga’s (22) loan to FC Nantes could be cut short, with the midfielder close to returning to RC Strasbourg Alsace, as per information from L’Équipe. Mwanga did not travel with Nantes for their fixture against FC Lorient this evening.
Strasbourg and Nantes have reportedly spent several hours today negotiating a termination of their loan agreement. The French outlet writes that Strasbourg are acting because Nantes’s new head coach, Ahmed Kantari, does not want to count on Mwanga in the short-term, although he has played him in every game that the former FC Girondins de Bordeaux man has been available so far (the one absence being when he was suspended for the match against RC Lens).
Strasbourg reportedly would not be against Mwanga returning and would be willing to give him game time. Mwanga started in Strasbourg’s first four games this season, playing in their UEFA Europa Conference League qualifier and the opening two games of the Ligue 1 campaign.
