Manchester City agree deal to sign Keir McMeekin

Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign Kier McMeekin from Hearts, with the teenager now set to join the academy ranks at the club.

Manchester City have managed to find an agreement for promising Scottish prodigy Kier McMeekin, as Fabrizio Romano confirms. The Premier League giants were part of the race alongside other rivals, and now they have won the race, with the teenager passing his medicals ahead of the move to the club.

Manchester City have developed a reputation for developing some of the top talents around right now. Their strategy goes back many years now, as they have continually plucked the best talent from around to develop them in their facilities.

Many current first-team players at Premier League sides have come through the Manchester City academy. Among those are the likes of Morgan Rogers, Cole Palmer and Michael Olise, to name a few, as the club have continued to target young talents consistently.

Hearts teenager and promising Scottish prodigy Kier McMeekin is the latest player in that regard for Manchester City. The club have won the race for the teenager and found a compensation agreement with the Scottish side to get the deal over the line.

McMeekin or any other Scottish player cannot sign professional terms until they turn 16, and in the promising Scottish prodigy’s case, he only completes his birthday next month. Manchester City have been quick to get on the case to find an agreement with the player before he could commit to fresh terms at his club. Now, he has passed his medicals and contracts have been exchanged, as he is expected to arrive imminently.

Manchester City to make more signings this month?

Manchester City have signed Antoine Semenyo to strengthen their first-team squad, as they gear up for a title challenge with Arsenal. Pep Guardiola’s side are currently facing a defensive injury crisis with the likes of Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiola set to miss a considerable period with injuries.

Manchester City are also interested in Marc Guehi, with a host of other clubs angling to sign the defender. They are widely expected to land a new centre-back before the window shuts, with the Crystal Palace star their priority target, although the chase is very challenging at the moment.
