Brentford join Crystal Palace in Brennan Johnson chase
Brentford will reportedly compete with Crystal Palace in the race to sign 24-year-old Welsh winger Brennan Johnson from Tottenham Hotspur in the winter transfer window.
According to a report by Football Insider, Brennan Johnson is the subject of interest from Brentford. The Bees are keen on bolstering their offensive unit by signing a versatile wide attacker in the winter transfer window. So, the 24-year-old Tottenham Hotspur winger has emerged as a target for the West London outfit.
Brentford will compete with Crystal Palace for the Welshman’s signature in the winter transfer window, with the Eagles expressing their interest in him. Additionally, Ipswich Town will attempt to secure Johnson’s services in the coming weeks.
Brennan Johnson has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Nottingham Forest in a deal worth £47.5 million in September 2023. The Nottingham-born winger spent his entire youth career with the Midlands outfit and graduated from the club’s youth division after joining them as an eight-year-old.
The Welsh international has been in and out of the starting lineup at Tottenham, and his stock has fallen in the 2025/26 season. Johnson has managed only 907 minutes of game time across 21 appearances this term while chipping in with four goals. However, the 24-year-old attacker’s stock remains high, as Brentford and Crystal Palace are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the winter transfer window.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Brentford’s interest in Brennan Johnson makes sense. While the Bees reinforced their offensive unit by signing Reiss Nelson and Dango Ouattara in the summer transfer window, Keith Andrews wants firepower in the final third. Johnson has thus emerged as a viable target for the West London club.
As for Crystal Palace, Eberechi Eze joined Arsenal in the summer transfer window, leaving a gaping hole in the South London club’s offensive unit. While Yeremy Pino and Ismaila Sarr have been impressive in the first half of the 2025/26 season, Oliver Glasner can do with more firepower in the final third. So, Johnson is an option worth considering for Crystal Palace.
Apart from Brentford and Crystal Palace, Ipswich Town will also attempt to sign the 24-year-old Welsh international from Tottenham in the winter transfer window. Meanwhile, the Lilywhites are open to sanctioning a loan exit for the former Nottingham Forest winger in the coming weeks.
