Chelsea, Tottenham rival Barcelona in Alessandro Bastoni race

Chelsea and Tottenham are now part of the race for Alessandro Bastoni alongside Barcelona, as Inter Milan could have a big decision on their hands.

According to Fichajes, Barcelona have to compete with the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham in the race for Alessandro Bastoni. The Italian international could get a big move out of the San Siro, as Inter Milan might have a big decision on their hands with regards to their star defender’s immediate future.

Alessandro Bastoni is one of the South American defenders in the world at the moment, and a host of clubs will be angling for a move if he were made available in the market. The 26-year-old Italian international has proven himself at the top level with Inter Milan, who are currently facing a financial crunch.

The defender does have some high-profile suitors around, including Barcelona, which could give the 26-year-old Italian international a chance to test himself in another big league. The Catalans are eager to lure the Inter Milan star as they plan to make changes to their backline, as players like Ronald Araujo could be headed for the exit in the near future.

However, the Catalans may face a tricky task in luring the 26-year-old Italian international to the Camp Nou, given the price he will cost. Barcelona are not in the best of positions to spend big on a defender, but they could make their presence felt if Inter Milan does make him available.

The Catalans are not alone, as Premier League rivals Chelsea and Tottenham are also part of the race. The Londoners are angling for a new defender in their ranks, especially the Blues, who have been looking for a replacement for Levi Colwill since his season-ending injury back in the summer.

Will Alessandro Bastoni leave Inter Milan?

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank had been looking to make some key changes to his backline, and that involves him bringing in a left-sided defender. The idea of Bastoni might stem from the concept of using Micky van de Ven as a left-back option in the future, which will indeed make Spurs’ defence formidable.

However, much will depend on Bastoni himself, as he’s currently happy with life at Inter Milan, and it will take a monumental push from his suitors to get him out of the San Siro. The Nerazzuri are under some financial stress, which might be the only reason they could let Bastoni leave, although selling the 26-year-old Italian international might have repercussions on their season’s objectives after January.
