Leeds United, West Ham United make approach for Joshua Zirkzee

Leeds United and West Ham United have enquired about the availability of Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee.

Joshua Zirkzee’s future has been a big talking point for months, as he is no longer an important part of Manchester United’s plans. The Dutch international could push for an exit, and even the Red Devils could look to cash in on him to make room for new arrivals.

According to a report from Il Messaggero, Leeds United and West Ham United are two Premier League clubs that are keen on signing Zirkzee, who has only had a handful of minutes this season under Ruben Amorim.

While things didn’t work out for the 24-year-old at Bayern, he revived his career at Bologna, and his impressive performances helped him secure a move to Manchester United in the summer of 2024. The Red Devils forked out €42.5 million to bring him to the Premier League.

Unfortunately, the move hasn’t worked out. Despite his massive potential, Zirkzee has failed to get going at his new club. With United signing a host of new forwards in the summer, the Dutch attacker has gone down the pecking order.

He has racked up just 354 minutes of first-team action across his nine appearances and has only one goal to his name. While his contract runs until 2029, and there is an option to extend it by another 12 months, the Dutch international looks set to part ways with the club in search of a more prominent role.

United are open to sanctioning his departure, as long as they can recoup what they had invested a few years back. They might even be open to a potential loan deal with a buy option/obligation. While there is interest in him from across Europe, Leeds United and West Ham are two clubs to keep an eye on.

Premier League duo keen on Zirkzee

The Hammers lack depth in the final third. With the majority of their forwards on the wrong side of 30, Zirkzee could certainly solve quite a few of their projects and become one of the cornerstones going forward.

Meanwhile, Leeds seek more firepower as they look to survive the drop. While things might not have worked out for the Dutch international at United, he certainly has the qualities to turn things around.

Both Premier League clubs have already enquired about him. However, the player doesn’t seem to keen on joining them. As a result, they will have to put in a lot of effort to get a deal over the line.
