West Ham United eyeing winter move for Tochukwu Nnadi, face Crystal Palace, Leeds United, Newcastle United battle
West Ham United are eager to make a move for Zulte Waregem’s powerful defensive midfielder, Tochukwu Nnadi, and faces a four-way battle.
According to TEAMtalk, West Ham United are part of the running in the race for defensive midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi ahead of the January window. The Hammers are ready to make an offer to Belgian side Zulte Waregem, but face some challenges ahead as they are part of a four-way battle for the 22-year-old African midfielder.
Zulte Waregem is a club not many of the Premier League fan bases might have heard of, but they are in Belgium and currently have a player that some of the English top-flight sides want. The said star is Nigerian midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi, a defensive midfielder by trade, and one who has at least four English sides chasing for his signature.
Nnadi has been a relentless presence for the Belgian side during his time there and a sure starter in the team. He stands at 5ft7in and has a strong build, while many have described his profile as ‘relentless, explosive in recovery, and Premier League-ready physically.’
Hence’s it is no surprise that a host of Premier League sides are interested, including Newcastle United, Leeds United, and Crystal Palace, while Brighton & Hove Albion are also in the mix. Either of those teams are looking at Tochukwu Nnadi as a potential long-term option for the defensive midfield role in their sides, as currently the Nigerian could be a solid backup to the first-choice stars in the role.
Newcastle United, Leeds United, and Crystal Palace are in the market for defensive reinforcements for different reasons. Looking at Nnadi, they might view him as a cheap option in an otherwise expensive market, as they could potentially have a big upside in value with the 22-year-old African midfielder.
West Ham leading the race for Tochkwu Nnadi?
West Ham are the surprise leaders in the race to sign Nnadi, with the Hammers ready to make a £4 million offer to test the resolve of the Belgian side. The price point is more than 3-4 times the player’s current market value, as he does fit in perfectly with what Nuno Espirito Santo might want in his midfield.
The Hammers are eager to get ahead of the four-way battle for the 22-year-old African midfielder, as they hope the Belgian side accepts their offer. They are readying a five-year deal for Tochukwu Nnadi, and a switch to the Premier League with West Ham could be a good career switch for the Nigerian midfielder.
