Predicted Manchester United lineup against Crystal Palace: Mount in for Zirkzee; Cunha still out

Mason Mount will replace Joshua Zirkzee in the Manchester United starting lineup when they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

Manchester United will be eager to end a run of three games without a victory and return to winning ways when they lock horns with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon. Ruben Amorim has no new issues to worry about ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Harry Maguire (hamstring), Matheus Cunha (knock), and Benjamin Sesko (knee) remain in the treatment room. The trio should return in the foreseeable future, with Cunha coming back in the upcoming midweek Premier League clash with West Ham United.

However, Lisandro Martinez is one step closer to being fit enough to feature in the starting lineup. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Amorim provided brief fitness updates on Harry Maguire, Benjamin Sesko, and Matheus Cunha.

The Manchester United manager said, “Sesko is going to take a little bit more time. It will take a little bit longer and we are taking care of him. Harry, the same. I expect to have Matheus in the next one [West Ham United on Thursday], not this one.”

Meanwhile, in an interview with the club media, Amorim discussed Lisandro Martinez’s progress after returning from a long-term layoff due to a knee injury. The Portuguese tactician insisted the Argentine international was ready to feature.

The Manchester United boss said, “If he is on the bench, he is ready. Of course, we need to control his minutes but, if he is on the bench, he is ready to play.”

Senne Lammens is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Manchester United lining up in a 3-4-2-1 formation in front of him against Crystal Palace on Sunday. The central defensive unit will feature Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Luke Shaw. Meanwhile, Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot will start as the two wing-backs, with Patrick Dorgu dropping to the bench.

The wide duo will provide width in the final third and protect the centre-backs during the defensive phases. As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes in the central areas. Finally, Bryan Mbeumo will lead the line for the away side against Crystal Palace, with Mason Mount and Amad Diallo completing the supporting cast. So, Joshua Zirkzee will drop to the bench.

Predicted Manchester United XI: Lammens; Yoro, de Ligt, Shaw; Mazraoui, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Dalot; Amad, Mount; Mbeumo
