Manchester United have secret weapon in Antoine Semenyo chase

Manchester United will aim to beat Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign 25-year-old Ghanaian international Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Antoine Semenyo is the subject of interest of Manchester United. The Red Devils are scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the winter transfer window, and they have set their sights on the Bournemouth mainstay. However, they face stiff competition from Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur for his signature, although they have a trump card in the transfer battle.

How has Antoine Semenyo’s stock soared?

Antoine Semenyo has established himself as one of the best attackers in the Premier League since joining Bournemouth from Bristol City in January 2023. The London-born winger hit the ground running at the Vitality Stadium, and he has made considerable progress in the last three years.

The 25-year-old was exceptional in the 2024/25 season, and he has been hot off the blocks in the new campaign, amassing six goals and three assists in 11 Premier League appearances thus far. Meanwhile, Semenyo’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile Premier League clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur.

Move across the Premier League on the cards?

The Ghanaian international has been on Liverpool’s radar for a long time. The continued interest makes sense, as Mohamed Salah is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the twilight of his career. Additionally, the Liverpool talisman faces an uncertain future at Anfield, thus compelling the Reds to set their sights on the Bournemouth attacker as a long-term replacement for their talismanic forward.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s interest in Antoine Semenyo is understandable. The Red Devils reinforced their offensive unit by signing Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko in the summer transfer window. However, they need more firepower in January, as Mbeumo will leave for the Africa Cup of Nations. So, Semenyo is a viable target for Manchester United.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, Richarlison faces an uncertain future at the North London club, and the Lilywhites are yet to sign a long-term successor to Son Heung-min. So, Semenyo is an option worth considering. The latest update has revealed that Tottenham will be happy to trigger the London-born winger’s release clause of £65 million in the winter transfer window.

However, Manchester United may have a secret weapon to beat Liverpool and Tottenham in the race to sign the 25-year-old attacker, as Bournemouth technical director Simon Francis is a lifelong Red Devil. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the £65 million-rated Ghanaian international.
