AS Roma eyeing Jadon Sancho swoop, alternative to Mathys Tel, Joshua Zirkzee
AS Roma are keen on signing Jadon Sancho as they explore alternatives to Mathys Tel and Joshua Zirkzee.
AS Roma are looking to reinforce their attack in the upcoming transfer window. The Serie A giants want to bring in a striker and a left-winger. Since they have a limited budget to work with, they are looking at players who could be available at a bargain.
According to a report from Tuttomercatoweb, Roma are looking at Jadon Sancho, who is not having the best of times on loan at Aston Villa. The Manchester United winger is an alternative option to Mathys Tel and Joshua Zirkzee.
Sancho’s big-money move to Old Trafford never really worked out. He spent the last season on loan at Chelsea. While he did put in some impressive performances, the Blues decided against signing him on a permanent basis.
Sancho could be on the move in January
Jadon Sancho was not a part of Ruben Amorim’s plans moving forward; as a result, they were looking to get him off their books. Eventually, Aston Villa came forward and secured his services on loan for the 2025/26 season.
However, the move has not worked out in his favour as he has struggled to cement his spot in Unai Emery’s team. He has only had 336 minutes of first-team action in his eight appearances. Reports suggest he could end up leaving Villa in January.
Roma see this as a great opportunity to sign the 25-year-old, who will only have six months left on his deal at Old Trafford in the winter. They could secure his services on a bargain, and if he manages to return his best, Sancho could prove to be an exceptional piece of business.
Jadon Sancho is only an alternative option
However, he is only an alternative option to the likes of Mathys Tel and Joshua Zirkzee. The duo have struggled to get regular minutes at Tottenham and Manchester United, respectively. They are both versatile enough to feature anywhere in attack, and Roma will prefer having them on their roster.
The Italian giants will prefer a loan-to-buy option, and they would even be willing to include an option to make Zirkzee’s deal permanent if they secure Champions League football.
