Manchester United initiate move for Kees Smit
Manchester United have initiated a move to explore the idea of signing Kees Smit in the future, with competition in place for the AZ Alkmaar star.
According to Caught Offside, Kees Smit continued to attract big interest from some of the big clubs in Europe. Manchester United have made the first move by contacting the player and his camp, while the likes of Liverpool, Barcelona and Chelsea are also credited with an interest in the 19-year-old Dutch prodigy.
AZ Alkmaar have a big talent on their hands in Kees Smit, with the midfielder already being compared to greats like Kevin De Bruyne and Frenkie De Jong. However, the 19-year-old Dutch prodigy has a lot more to achieve in his career, and more importantly, prove his worth at the highest levels.
The Eredivisie certainly has its limitations when it comes to realising the full extent of a talent, but in Smit’s case, he could be on the move soon. The report strongly states the 19-year-old Dutch prodigy could leave next summer, as a host of sides including Chelsea, Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United all showing big interest.
Barcelona were named among the suitors for the midfielder, and that could be a big move given he could have the chance to play alongside compatriot De Jong there. Liverpool were seriously considering a January move, and there could be a case of an early agreement before the 19-year-old Dutch prodigy arrives in the summer to play under Arne Slot.
Chelsea are also keen, with the London outfit known for their endeavours of signing young talents to help their development into future stars. However, the club making all the headlines at this moment regarding a move for Smit are Manchester United.
