Lille’s Alexsandro opts against surgery
Earlier this month, Lille OSC said that Alexsandro (26) would undergo surgery on the quadriceps injury that he suffered back in September. However, the Brazilian has now told L’Équipe that he has opted against this option.
Alexsandro had just made his break into the Brazil squad. He was part of the Selecao in September. Upon his return to Lille OSC, Bruno Genesio alluded to risk in playing the defender, who had just participated in a game at high altitude in South America just days earlier. The risk was taken, but Alexsandro was injured.
Alexsandro to return in January?
That injury happened on 14th September, and he has yet to play since. Despite a brief return to training, the decision was ultimately taken to operate on the injury. But the player has now reversed that decision. “I think that, deep down, the best option is not to undergo surgery,” he told L’Équipe.
He continued, “I no longer feel pain, I can run, I just need my tendon to heal better, which hasn’t been done very well these past months.”
In order to continue his recovery, Alexsandro has gone to Doha and more specifically, to the renowned Aspetar clinic. The Brazil international hopes to be operational around January.
