Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo makes football history with World Cup qualification
Real Madrid icon Cristiano Ronaldo has on Sunday secured for himself a place in the history books of international football.
This comes after Portugal officially booked their spot at next summer’s World Cup.
Roberto Martínez’s troops marked their return to action a short time ago, playing host to Armenia in a qualifying clash.
The aforementioned Ronaldo was forced to watch on from the stands for the evening, after picking up a suspension against the Republic of Ireland earlier this week.
But safe to say, the 40-year-old’s absence was not exactly felt by his fellow countrymen…
Portugal ultimately romped to the right side of a 9-1 result, in the process securing group winner status, and with it their place at the 2026 World Cup.
As much means that talisman Ronaldo is all set to play his part at the 6th World Cup of his glittering career, making the veteran attacker the first player in history to manage as much.
