Milan and Roma in Race to Acquire Midtjylland Starlet
Milan and Roma are both searching for a new striker in January and are part of the group of teams keen on Midtjylland star Franculino. His side managed to keep hold of him in the summer, but it’ll be tough to resist much longer, Matteo Moretto reports (via OneFootball).
The 21-year-old is having a terrific season and has posted 19 goals and 3 assists in 26 appearances across all competitions. He hasn’t been productive only domestically since he has hit the net three times in four Europa League games. He was solid in the past campaign, but he made a further leap.
Milan and Roma are both keen on Franculino, but there’s plenty of competition. Bayern Munich, Everton, and RB Leipzig chased after him last summer and could do it again. He’s expected to draw interest from further Premier League outfits.
His price tag is €17/20M, but it’ll increase if he keeps delivering and multiple outfits duke it out to capture him. He’s a Benfica product but never debuted for their first team. Midtjylland snatched him on a free transfer in 2023. He represents Guinea-Bissau, for which he has starred 14 times and found the target once.
Our Take on Milan and Roma Targeting Midtjylland
A talent of this caliber would be in better hands under Gian Piero Gasperini, but the Rossoneri have more funds. A bidding war doesn’t bode well for either, especially if top clubs are involved, but they would be able to offer a nice technical project and a sizeable role right away. Their resources and competitiveness in such a fray will hinge on whether, how quickly, and how well they’ll manage to offload Santiago Gimenez and Artem Dovbyk, respectively.
