Manchester United make contact to sign Karim Adeyemi
Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Karim Adeyemi’s camp amid rumours of tensions between the winger and Borussia Dortmund.
According to The Bild, Manchester United are reportedly interested in a move for Karim Adeyemi ahead of January amid reports the club are in contact with his camp. Reports from Germany have hinted at possible tensions between the German international and Borussia Dortmund, which could force the issue of a possible sale in the winter window.
Karim Adeyemi may not have the numbers of a world-class winger, but he’s still seen as an important part of Borussia Dortmund’s plans. The winger has three goals and as many assists this season, but his performances have dropped since October.
The report from Germany has now linked Adeyemi with a move away from the club, citing some tensions between the player a the club. In this case, there are some issues with head coach Niko Kovac, as Dortmund are eager to find a solution.
Dortmund are eager to extend Adeyemi’s contract beyond his 2027 expiry date, as they are eager to protect his value in the long term. The winger is reportedly open to an extension if there’s a release clause included, something the report goes on to suggest could be in the €80 million mark.
However, the big issue for Dortmund might come in the form of Manchester United, who are reportedly angling for a move in January. The winger recently changed agents and is now represented by super agent Jorge Mendes, who happens to have excellent relations with Manchester United. The Red Devils are keen to bolster many areas of their squad, but a new winger might not be a priority on their agenda.
Manchester United to sign Karim Adeyemi?
Adeyemi might prove to be a good addition, and if the rumours of Manchester United being in contact with his camp are true, they could be in with a chance to sign him on a decent fee. However, the Red Devils may not need another wide attacker given their outlay on the likes of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
They are, in fact, likely to search for a new centre-forward after Ruben Amorim hinted at the possibility following Benjamin Sesko’s injury. Hence, the chances of the Red Devils signing the €80 million-rated German attacker are slim at the moment as they could prioritise a new striker instead.
