Predicted Manchester United lineup against Tottenham: Mount in for Cunha; Maguire returns

Harry Maguire and Mason Mount will return to the Manchester United starting lineup when they take on Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Manchester United will be eager to return to winning ways when they lock horns with Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Ruben Amorim has no new issues to worry about ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Lisandro Martinez is the only absentee, even though he has resumed training. However, with the Argentine international missing months of action due to a long-term knee injury, Amorim will ease him back into the thick of things.

Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Amorim discussed how his squad is shaping up ahead of a crucial Premier League clash with Tottenham. The Portuguese tactician spoke about the value of luck in avoiding knocks and injuries.

The Manchester United manager said, “No, there’s no change [to what we are doing about injuries]. It’s one game every week and then a little bit of luck, because sometimes you have problems with players with knocks, it’s not something that is soft tissues. So you never know what is going to happen in the next training.”

“If you play with intensity in training, something can happen, but I think the big reason…of course, we try to do everything well, the big reason is [we have only] one game every week. You can give one extra day to the players that you know could struggle in the next training. I think that is the biggest reason.”

Senne Lammens will retain his usual spot between the sticks, with Manchester United lining up in a 3-4-2-1 formation in front of him against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. The central defensive unit will feature Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, and Luke Shaw, with Maguire replacing Leny York. Meanwhile, Amad Diallo and Diogo Dalot will continue as the two wing-backs.

As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes in the double pivot. Finally, Matheus Cunha should lead the line for the away side against Tottenham, with Bryan Mbeumo and Mason Mount joining him in the offensive trifecta. So, Benjamin Sesko will be a backup option on the bench.

Predicted Manchester United XI: Lammens; de Ligt, Maguire, Shaw; Amad, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Dalot; Mbeumo, Mount; Cunha
