Milan still monitoring Liverpool’s Joe Gomez
Milan are ramping up their search for a new centre-back in the January transfer window and they are still keenly monitoring Liverpool’s Joe Gomez.
As Milan prepare to strengthen a squad that manager Massimiliano Allegri considers essential for the Scudetto race, Sporting Director Igli Tare has opened a “casting call” for defensive reinforcements.
According to Calciomercato.com, the 28-year-old English defender, Joe Gomez, is a name that has resurfaced on Milan’s radar.
Milan target Gomez
Milan had previously pursued Gomez during the summer window, and the current circumstances at Anfield have only increased the Serie A club’s interest: Gomez, who was not frequently used by Liverpool, is now a target once again for the Rossoneri. The right profile Milan is specifically looking for an “able and ready” defender who can easily adapt to Allegri’s three-man defensive system, offering cover to the likes of Gabbia, Pavlovic, and Tomori.
With the club targeting both a new striker and a central defender in January, Gomez represents a ready-made option that could be attainable due to his current lack of playing time with the Reds. He joins a shortlist of other targets including Tarik Muharemovic (Sassuolo) and Mario Gila (Lazio).
