Everton backing David Moyes amid Brendan Rodgers links

Everton’s owners are currently backing David Moyes in a big way amid recent links to former Liverpool and Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.

According to Everton News, David Moyes’s position in the dugout at the Hill-Dickinson Stadium is not under immediate threat amid speculation surrounding his future. Former Liverpool and Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers was linked lately, but the Friedkin Group are ready to back Moyes in a big way and even help him get new players.

Everton did have a modest start to the season as the club moved to the brand new Hill Dickinson Stadium, where they recently lost their first game. However, their form has dropped off in recent weeks, as the Toffees have registered only one win in their last eight games across all competitions, which came at home against Crystal Palace.

Amid the poor run of form, with the latest being a 1-1 draw away at Sunderland, where Thierno Barry missed a sitter in the first half, there are some concerns over David Moyes’s future. The experienced manager dug Everton out of a hole last season when they were terribly underperforming under Sean Dyche, as he took over and had a strong finish to the season.

Yet, the current form have seen a section of the support cast doubts over Moyes’s credibility in the dugout, as 52-year-old former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers was recently linked with the job. The Everton fans are not big on such an idea, given his affiliation with their arch rivals. He was also linked with a move to Nottingham Forest, before they appointed former Toffees boss Dyche at the helm.

Rodgers, who recently left Celtic after a poor run of form, is not seen as a viable candidate, as his appointment could cause a bit of a stir within the fanbase, which may hamper the atmosphere at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton backing David Moyes

The Friedkin Group are currently not thinking about a change in the dugout, and they are backing Moyes completely as things stand. They are also planning to help the Everton boss with funds to secure new signings in January, with a new striker a priority for Everton.

The club are also making big plans to improve the squad, including putting in the work to keep hold of key stars such as Jarrad Branthwaite. However, all eyes will be on Moyes and the kind of players he would look to bring in the next window, but the club are certainly not thinking about sacking the experienced manager and definitely not thinking about replacing him with 52-year-old former Liverpool manager Rodgers.
