Jadon Sancho has no future at Manchester United amid Aston Villa struggles

Jadon Sancho’s Manchester United career is reportedly all but over as he struggles to make an impact since joining Aston Villa.

According to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, Jadon Sancho has no future at Manchester United. The England international has struggled to make an impact during his loan spell at Aston Villa, and even if he returns to his parent club, the former Borussia Dortmund star has little chance of reviving his Old Trafford career.

While speaking about Sancho’s future on the Inside Track podcast, the transfer expert said, “I don’t think there’s a long-term future for Sancho in Manchester in any way. He was part of that bomb squad in the summer that they were looking to get rid of and they were more than happy for him to go to Aston Villa.

“I don’t see any way back in the long-term at Man United. And as I said, with no break clause in that loan deal, it seems that Sancho will stay at Villa and he’ll be hoping between now and the rest of season he can make an impact and win favour with Unai Emery.”

Jadon Sancho’s impressive performances at Borussia Dortmund resulted in a big-money move to Manchester United during the summer of 2021. While people at the club had massive expectations from the young forward, he has failed to live up to them and has been out on loan in recent seasons.

The Englishman spent the 2024/25 season out on loan at Chelsea. Despite putting in impressive performances, the West London club decided against making a move for him. While he returned to his parent club, the 25-year-old was not a part of Ruben Amorim’s plans.

Sancho finds himself in no man’s land

As a result, the Red Devils were keen on offloading Jadon Sancho, and they were glad to see him join Aston Villa on a temporary basis. The English playmaker’s move to Villa Park hasn’t gone according to plan so far. He has been involved in six matches across competitions, but has struggled to make an impact.

With the 25-year-old failing to fire, the chances of Aston Villa pushing for a permanent move are also going down with every passing week. While Manchester United are hoping to get him off their books as soon as possible, that seems unlikely.

Since his loan move does not include a break clause, Sancho will spend the remainder of the season at Villa Park. As things stand, he is set to become a free agent next summer when his contract with Manchester United expires, making a revival of his Old Trafford career highly unlikely. The England international will now be hoping to impress Unai Emery in the coming months to secure a permanent move ahead of next season.
