Arsenal set to run rule over Silas Andersen

Premier League heavyweights Arsenal are reportedly keen on 21-year-old Danish midfielder Silas Andersen, and they will scout the BK Hacken prospect this week.

According to a report by Danish outlet Ekstra Bladet, Silas Andersen is the subject of interest of Arsenal. The Gunners are eager to reinforce their midfield unit by signing another defensive midfielder in one of the coming transfer windows. So, the 21-year-old BK Hacken prospect has emerged as a target for the North London club.

The Premier League heavyweights have already scouted the Dane in several games this season, and they will dispatch officials to watch him in the UEFA Europa Conference League clash with RC Strasbourg this week. The interest is in its early stages, and this is the process of “learning about the subject” before taking “concrete steps” towards securing his services.

Who is Silas Andersen?

Silas Andersen is the latest promising prospect to rise in prominence in his homeland. Denmark has produced many highly-rated prodigies in the last few years, with Rasmus Hojlund, Victor Froholdt, and Mika Biereth either making their mark at a top club or capturing the attention of several European bigwigs.

As for Andersen, the 21-year-old spent his formative years in Denmark, Italy, and the Netherlands and graduated from the youth division at FC Utrecht. However, the Danish midfielder has risen in prominence since joining BK Hacken earlier this year, chipping in with three goals and one assist in nearly 50 appearances thus far. The youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several bigwigs, including Arsenal.

London calling?

Arsenal’s interest in Silas Andersen is understandable. The Gunners are scouring the market for another holding midfielder despite signing Christian Norgaard and Martin Zubimendi in the summer transfer window. However, the former is on the wrong side of 30, and he will only be a short-term solution at the Emirates.

Several candidates, including Morten Hjulmand, have thus emerged on Arsenal’s radar, with Andersen also a viable target. Norgaard’s compatriot has already seen the North London club’s scouts watching him this season, and they will dispatch officials to run the rule over him in the UEFA Europa Conference League clash with RC Strasbourg.

With Arsenal taking such keen interest in the 21-year-old Dane, a move in the future may be on the cards. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Andersen amid the North London club’s scouting trips to watch him.
