Chelsea willing to pay €120 million for Rafael Leao
Chelsea are reportedly willing to fork out €120 million to sign Rafael Leao as the left wing position is still under work at the club.
According to Fichajes, Rafael Leao is a big target for Chelsea ahead of the next window. The Blues are reportedly willing to fork out €120 million to test AC Milan’s resolve on their star winger, as the Stamford Bridge outfit are still figuring out the right player in the same position.
Rafael Leao surprised a few when he did not move out of AC Milan when he was widely expected to during the summer window. Following the Rossoneri’s failure to make it into any of the European competitions following a dismal league season, did opened the doors for some of their notable stars to jump ship, and some of them did.
For instance, Tijjani Reijnders and Theo Hernandez moved out for new challenges, as Leao stayed put. One of the possible reasons would have been the financial aspect of doing any deal with Milan, given the Portuguese star has a large release clause attached to his contract, which lasts until 2028.
However, ahead of the January window, there’s a distinct possibility that Milan might consider a large enough bid for their winger owing to the financial pressures of not qualifying for the Champions League. Moreover, a big amount in their coffers could allow Massimiliano Allegri to sign the players that suit his system.
Manchester United have been keen, while there’s also interest from the likes of Tottenham, although Leao may not view the latter as a favourable destination if it came to choosing. Now, Chelsea are the ones seemingly looking to steal the march on the 26-year-old Serie A attacker, as they are reportedly preparing a massive bid for the Portuguese attacker.
Chelsea to make €120 million bid
Chelsea are reportedly ready to fork out €120 million on the player, and their interest is nothing new, as the Blues were heavily linked with Leao back in the summer. Enzo Maresca’s side are still figuring out the left-wing position and could keep looking at newer options to find the right solution.
Back in the summer, they did spend big on two players, having signed Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund and then Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United. Yet, they feel the team needs a big presence such as Leao in the role, which might potentially see them pay up as much as €120 million for the 26-year-old Serie A attacker.
