Manchester United in no rush to sanction Joshua Zirkzee sale

Manchester United are not expected to make a rushed decision on the immediate future of frustrated star Joshua Zikzee ahead of January.

According to Football Insider, Manchester United are not showing any urgency in deciding on Joshua Zirkzee’s immediate future. Despite speculation ahead of the January window, the Red Devils will only decide to offload him should it suit their cause and not weaken the squad.

Joshua Zirkzee has endured a frustrating start to the new season, following some irregular game time under Ruben Amorim. The Dutch forward, who arrived from Bologna last season, but is yet to cement his place as a regular starter.

There have been plenty of ups and downs for the attacker since he arrived, but in the current campaign, he has been lower down in the pecking order. The summer arrival of Benjamin Sesko has ensured the Slovenian is the first-choice striker for Amorim, who alternates between him and Mason Mount to start games.

Hence, Zirkzee is effectively the third-choice striker at the club despite the departure of Rasmus Hojlund in the summer. The Dutchman seeks regular game time ahead of the World Cup, as he could potentially risk losing his place in Ronald Koeman’s side next summer.

There have been a few teams interested, such as Sevilla and West Ham, but any deal, even on loan, is extremely complicated at this stage of the season. There’s also interest from Italy, where the forward is more adept to the league, as any decision of a departure will depend on Manchester United.

Manchester United are relaxed about Joshua Zirekzee

There were reports that Zirkzee could hand in a transfer request, but Manchester United were expected to reject any such plea from the 24-year-old. The Red Devils are not keen to rush into deciding on his immediate future, as they are not prepared to green-light any move in hasty terms.

The first reason is that they do not want to weaken their side in the second half of the season if they cannot find a suitable replacement for the 24-year-old. Secondly, they will lose Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo to the AFCON, in which case losing another forward such as Zirkzee could hurt their chances of where they finish the season.
