Scott McTominay happy at Napoli amid Tottenham links

Scott McTominay is reportedly happy and content at Serie A club Napoli amid his links with Tottenham Hotspur, and a return to the Premier League is not on the cards.

According to a report by Sky Sport Italia, as relayed by Calcio Napoli 24, Scott McTominay is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing an attacking midfielder next year. So, the 28-year-old Napoli talisman has emerged as a target for the North London club.

However, a source close to the Scot has revealed that he is happy and content at the Serie A club. So, Tottenham must look elsewhere for a new attacking midfielder heading into the next two transfer windows. The source said, “Scott loves the city, the club and the fans. He’s really happy here, happy in Naples. There’s no doubt about his return.”

Scott McTominay and his life-changing move

Scott McTominay has transformed his career since joining Napoli from Manchester United last year. The 28-year-old hit the ground running at the Serie A club, and his game-changing displays helped the Partenopei win the league title in the 2024/25 season. That also earned the Scotsman individual plaudits, including Serie A MVP and 18th place in the 2025 Ballon d’Or list.

The Scottish international has also been hot off the blocks this season, chipping in with four goals and one assist in 11 appearances across all competitions. Meanwhile, McTominay’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Tottenham Hotspur will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature next year.

Premier League return on the horizon?

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Scott McTominay is understandable. The Lilywhites are scouring the market for a versatile midfielder heading into the next two transfer windows. Thomas Frank can do with more firepower from the middle of the park, and the former Manchester United star is a viable target for the North London club.

Apart from Tottenham, other European bigwigs have also shown interest in the 28-year-old Scot. However, a move will not materialise next year, as the Napoli midfielder is happy and content at the Serie A club.

So, Tottenham must look elsewhere for a midfielder, with McTominay not going anywhere anytime soon. It will be interesting to see who bolsters the North London club’s first-team squad next year.
