Update issued on Arne Slot future after Liverpool defeat

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is under no immediate pressure despite suffering yet another league defeat.

Defending champions Liverpool had an impressive start to the season following a big spending summer. However, things have collapsed for them in recent weeks. Their defeat to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium was their fourth straight defeat in the Premier League, and pressure is slowly mounting on Arne Slot.

A defeat to Crystal Palace started the run; they have since suffered defeats at the hands of Chelsea, Manchester United and now Brentford. Despite the poor run of form, the Dutch manager is not believed to be under any internal pressure, as per a report from Football Insider.

O’Rourke’s take on Slot’s future at Anfield

While speaking about Slot’s future following Liverpool’s defeat to the Bees, Pete O’Rourke said: “It’s a big period coming up for Liverpool, as you said, it was a big win for them in the mid-week game against Frankfurt.

“Obviously, results dictate whoever the manager is. If you’re not performing and not getting results, it brings pressure.

“It doesn’t matter who you are, whether you’re Arne Slot, who won the Premier League with Liverpool last season, or anybody else.

“Liverpool went out and spent heavily in the summer to bolster their squad, and a lot of people were expecting Liverpool to run away with the title this season.

“They got off to a good start, but things have unravelled a bit in recent weeks.

“I think he’s got plenty of credit in the bank, Slot, and I don’t think there’ll be any internal pressure just yet.

“They were hoping they could built on the win at Frankfurt and go on a run in the Premier League.

“But as you said, it’s a big period, it was a tough game away to Brentford when they really couldn’t afford to drop too many more points in the Premier League.”

After three straight defeats in the league, Liverpool returned to winning ways against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League. It was an impressive 5-1 win for the Merseyside club. While fans and people at the club were hoping that the mid-week result would help them get back on track in the league, the Reds have suffered yet another defeat.

While they dominated the proceedings against the Bees, the Reds were not clinical in the final third, and their defence wasn’t up to the mark either. Following their defeat to Brentford, frustration has begun to bubble once again, and questions are being asked about their recent collapse.

Slot under no immediate pressure

The Merseyside club are concerned about their poor run, and doubts have started to creep in. However, Slot is still under no immediate pressure to lose his job. Having guided them to the league title in his first season in charge, Slot has earned enough credit at Liverpool.

The board are going to back him for a while, before making any decision regarding his future. They are confident that he can turn things around. However, the upcoming fixtures might have a big say on how long the Reds will back the Dutch manager.
